Our Produce

Produce now in season
Since the first vegetables were grown in 1989, our garden has grown significantly. Stade's Farm and Market now sets aside about 120 acres for our home-grown produce. The largest portion of acreage goes to our famous sweet corn and pumpkins for our fall festival, Shades of Autumn. We begin planting our garden in early April with onions and potatoes, asparagus, and strawberries. Once the fear of frost is over we put in our first planting of vegetables. New plantings go in about every two weeks until mid-July to ensure fresh hand-picked ripe produce throughout the season. Unlike store bought produce which has traveled miles and days, ours is picked in the morning and delivered to our farm markets within a few hours. The freshest vegetables are also the most nutritious and ours are picked ripe each day with their full compliment of vitamins. That's what sets us apart from the rest.

Here is our Fresh-Picked, Home-Grown estimated schedule.

Stade's Farm Market Cookbook Stade's Farm Market Cookbook!
While you're getting your fresh produce, why not pick up a copy of our own cookbook. The recipes were written by our market manager, Gayle Hubert using our farm-fresh vegetables. The cookbook is available at any of our farm stands for $6. You can also write or send us an email and we'll mail one to you.

Once a week, volunteer field gleaners working for Gleaners for the Lord come to the farm to pick leftovers after our harvest. Gleaners for the Lord is a non-profit organization whose aim is to relieve hunger; the food gleaned by the organization is distributed free of charge to the needy of northern Illinois.
